A storied diamond chandelier in the form of a dangling, complexly constructed 18th century Georgian silver pendant.
While its form is comprised of a proliferation of a multitude of differently shaped and variously connected components, ranging from spindly foliate flourishes, pointy laurels, to unadorned circles and teardrops,--every nook and cranny of its surface is studded with exceedingly characterful and scintillating old rose cuts.
The diamonds themselves, as well, offer an array of delightful irregularity in cut and color, the way only old diamonds can. Furthermore, offering even more visual interest in this intricate piece, the smaller of the stones, located mostly towards the exterior of the pendant, are in rub over settings, while the more sizable of the diamonds have been set in plump charming pinched collets.
As a total treat, the large central pear shaped drop, stuffed with not one, but two, chunky rose cuts, is articulated! With its subtle jiggle and sway compounding and contributing to the moody and atmospheric glittery aura of the pendant.
Wearable history, twinkling and alive!
It is in excellent antique condition. The starry, shield-shaped bale, along with the back moveable loop it is connected to, are both later additions. It weighs 7.7 grams. The pendant measures 1.7 inches in height, and 7/10th of an inch at its widest. The swinging, freely hanging pear drop at the center of the piece measures 11.2mm by 7.5mm.
