Antique Georgian Black Dot Paste "Diamond" Surround Glass Compartment Locket in Silver, Pendant, Sentimental, 1800s, Hair, Sentimental

A Georgian era locket constructed of silver, featuring a double glazed locket, framed with a surround of black dot "diamond" paste stones. Each hand cut and hand mounted paste stone remains bright and clear; catching the light and twinkling with every movement. The fleur des lys bale is also studded with two graduated pastes. The verso of the locket shows a gilt finish to the back of the paste surround, and a hinged back which opens and snaps shut securely. In all original, untouched condition. Originally intended as a sentimental gift designed to house a lock of hair, this shaker locket is ready to house new miniature treasures. It is currently filled with a sprinkling of loose, faceted opals, filling the compartment with tiny bursts of rainbow colors. It measures 1 inch in diameter, excluding the bale.
