Crisp and concise in its construction, this scarce, pared down Georgian solitaire ring, with a round, chunky pale honey yellow topaz on a simple gold band, continues to influence current designs and tastes to this very day; echoing strongly in present tastes and preferences, over 200 years later.
The focus of the ring, the central light and bright stone, has been set in crimped, cut down collets of silver, and foiled to heighten its luminosity and return of light. It has been set in a deep and chubby cup, of which the back, and connecting plain wire shank, have both been wrought of 14k-18k.
Iconic, spawning countless modern renditions, this is the authentic and original inspiration behind them.
In excellent antique condition. Evident under magnification is a small repair to the reverse of the bezel,-- of no consequence. It is a size 4.5 and weighs 1.7 grams.
