A visually arresting & unusually shaped Georgian French ring produced in the last half of the 18th century. It centrally features a long, lozenge-shaped garnet paste stone; set east to west, foiled expertly and sharply faceted. It is first surrounded by a perimeter of fine golden wire, followed then by a twinkling marcasite halo. The bezel is of silver, as are the settings of the stones, while its verso, bifurcated shoulders & hallmarked shank are all modeled in bright 18k yellow gold. In impeccable antique condition. It is a size 8-8.25 and weighs in at 5.8 grams. Like cherry fire on your finger! So very eye catching and dramatic.
