Antique Georgian Mourning Gold Foil and Diamond Urn Ring with Hairwork in 14k Gold c. 1789 , Memorial, Memento Mori, Hair, Neoclassical

This example of an antique Georgian Neoclassical urn mourning ring is beautiful in its simplicity and all gold construction, while its large sized oval bezel provides it with ample presence and finger coverage. Upon a plait of brown hair rests a gold foil urn, decorated with the most minute textural and architectural details and studded at either end with tiny diamonds. The shoulders are bifurcated with a grooved detail to either side, leading into a simple shank. To the reverse, an inscription for the deceased dated 1789. It is in very good antique condition, with the hair and urn perfectly preserved. There is some slight wear and discoloration around the inscription itself, and there is a small graze to the bottom of the glass compartment. It is 6.5 in size.
