Antique Georgian Rococo Foiled Oval Cut Garnet and Rose Cut Diamonds Half Hoop Ring in 14k Gold, Five Stone, Basket Set, 1700's

A Georgian Rococo half hoop featuring a substantial oval shaped foiled garnet, flanked on either side by two small, graduated rose cut diamonds. All five gemstones are set in gold, with the verso of the cherry colored garnet beautifully rayed, or basket set. Small "c" curls connect the bezel to grooved, notched shoulders which lead to a simple gold shank. The desirable small, architectural details of this piece's design have been all been well preserved and remain well formed after hundreds of years. It is in good antique condition, with slight surface wear to the garnet and a thinned shank evidencing past resizing. Size 8.5
