A characterful and expressive late Georgian/early Victorian pendant modeled as an adorable glaring owl--his head pebbled with pave set turquoise cabochons, his eyes foiled garnets wreathed with pearls and framed by scowling, arched eyebrows. The features of his face have been built up with applied materials and are three dimensional, down to the golden hooked beak. While the engaging, novel & whimsical subject matter is quintessentially Victorian, the silver topped, gold backed construction, as well as the crimped collet settings of the stones are all stylistically very Georgian. Incredibly well crafted with what was obviously time consuming & careful creation, it is wonderfully weighty at 33.8 grams. In excellent, wearable and all original condition with a perfectly matching bale. It measures 1.5 inches in diameter, excluding the bale.
