Circa 1870, this Victorian era Egyptian Revival scarab ring is a richly striking piece featuring sumptuous colors and textures. The scarab itself has been fashioned of finely and realistically carved deep, royal blue lapis lazuli that flashes gold and silver flecks in the light and is cupped in small gold curls. It has been set as a bead with two small connecting holes and a gold panel to either side for security; a thin bar running securely throughout. The beaded trefoil shoulders and shank are modeled of bright yellow 18k gold, which offers a beautiful contrast to the cool, deep blue of the beetle. Both structural components exhibit delicate, exquisite granulation work, which twists and ropes from the forked shoulders down the majority of the shank's length. It is in excellent, wearable antique condition. There is evidence of a prior sizing where the shank becomes smooth and untextured. It is a size 7.5
