Antique Victorian Etruscan Revival Foiled Teardrop Amethyst Pendant with White Enamel Halo & Hair Locket Reverse in High Karat Gold circa 1870, 1800's, Granulation, Castellani, 15k

An intricately worked Victorian era 15k gold Etruscan Revival pendant, studded with an incredible teardrop shaped amethyst with the most luminous & magical foiled depths. Around the perimeter of the gemstone, a halo of fine white enamel in tiny little egg-shaped golden cups. The pendant also exhibits fabulous and detailed encircling rings of beading, granulation and ropework along its edges--distinctive features one will find over and over in examples of Etruscan Revival jewelry.  Even better, this jewel is sentimental in nature with a locket of curls of brown hair to the reverse. Circa 1860-1880.

In excellent antique condition, with some slight wear to the enamel and a bit of surface scuffing to the back glass. It weighs a solid 6 grams and measures just over an inch in height. The bale is of base metal and a later addition. Chain only for demonstration purposes.
