Made circa 1860, these Victorian citrine pendeloque earrings are elegant, pure crystalline beauty. Comprised of a round top supporting an articulated pear-shaped drop of highly faceted amber-hued citrine, these earrings play with light and movement beautifully. The stones are set open back in cut down collets of 9k yellow gold, to maximize this clear, clean quality as well. Dawes and Collins suggest in their book "Georgian Jewellery that the original pendeloque design of elongated and slightly exaggerated shapes and lines probably arose in stylistically to offset the very high hairstyles of the 1770s. In excellent antique condition. There is one small chip to the back of of one, apparent under magnification. The earrings measure 1.5 inches in length, excluding the ear wires, and 10mm at their widest point.
