Antique Victorian French Garnet Coiled Snake Ring in 18k Gold, Ouroboros, 1800's, Serpent, Love Token, Sentimental, Ouroboros

A small Victorian era ring modeled as a coiled snake in bright 18k yellow gold, French in origin. The snake has beautifully textured scale details, and is crowned with a faceted, dark red garnet upon its head which has been set open-back. Each wrap of the coils that form the ring's shoulders are spaced apart, leading together into a wide, grooved shank. The snake's tiny little face comes to rest upon it's fine, detailed pointed tail tip, making the ring's form a closed loop-- ultimately symbolizing eternal love and infinity. It is in excellent antique condition, with a clear French eagle head hallmark to the exterior of the shank. There appears to be a diamond shaped maker's mark further along the shank, as well. Of fine quality, and surprisingly heavy at 3.5 grams. Size 4.25
