A pair of finely made French regional poissarde earrings, in warm 18k rosey gold, featuring a broad curl of gold adorned with neat and crisp geometric design of balls and triangular rivets. This style of sleeper hoops are known as "briquets," a sort of smaller version of poissardes named after the steel flints used to strike a fire. Finished off with one small dangling gold ball each, each earring is topped with a front hook closure that is threaded through the ear back to front. Due to their delicate, hard- to-repair construction, very few of these have survived in wearable condition--though this pair, happily, has remained in excellent working order, immaculate and untouched by time. They are light and barely there, weighing in at a dainty 1.6 grams combined. They measure about 3/4 of an inch in length, excluding the small golden bead drop.
