This eye catching and arresting Victorian era marquise shaped ring will not go unnoticed; glowing a mystic green from within.
With ample finger coverage thanks to the large central stone, a chrysoprase set in fabulously sharp and tidy claws, the cabochon flashes moodily from aquamarine to candy apple green.
This lively color play and the translucent nature of the chrysoprase have been highlighted as the piece's main focus by the minimal contact between the stone and metal; including its open back setting and the raised space created by the prongs.
Additionally, the clean, quite linear qualities of this ring's design are echoed in the pronounced, pointed knife edge design of the gem which facets and cleaves the middle of its glassy, smooth surface.
Of superior quality and craftsmanship, the side profile of this ring features an open, scalloped gallery. This sophisticated design element leads into forked fleur-de-lys shoulders and a plain, narrow shank.
Crafted of 18k gold throughout, its true yellow hue is a rich foil to the verdant depths of the hardstone.
Illustrative of the Victorian's affinity for, and their interest in, the natural world, this exquisite finger ring is also a perfect example of their deep appreciation for more unusual materials in their jewelry.
Quietly dramatic in the most unusual organic, naturalistic way.
In excellent antique condition. Light surface wear to the gem. It is a size 9.25 and weighs a solid and impressive 7.1 grams in weight.
