Antique Victorian Pinchbeck Chain Necklace with Banded Agate Snake Pendant c. 1880, Serpent, Charm, 1800's

Dating from around the middle of the 19th century, this charming and collectible Victorian pinchbeck necklace takes the form of an closed back, oval banded agate pendant affixed to, and suspended from, its original matching and intended chain. The small pendant features a brown hued agate with a thin central, vertical line and a pinchbeck frame stylized as a sinuous snake--its tapered coils varying in thickness and its small narrow head curled back to rest upon the stone. The chain features bar and ball details on either side of the pendant, and is otherwise comprised of belcher links finished with a barrel clasp. Collectible, charming and very wearable. In excellent antique condition and in working order. The pendant measures 18mm by 9mm. The chain measures 17.5 inches in length.
